To Prep or not to prep?

Somewhere, in the drawings you have, it mentions that you should prep and paint the aluminum with zinc chromate before assembling and riviting the plates on. When it is assembled then you can use your favorite paint. Unless, of course, you are going to powder coat everything first. source
