I've found several places around the NW, but obviously with bigger shops like these prices are fairly high...(minimum$500+ for a set of four)

A good job is not cheap, and a cheap job is not good I live in north jersey .
That is the absolute best place to go thats sounds about right for a decent paint job.

No prep work whatsoever....

I would say not maaco yeah there idea of painting is just that.
I took a fender to get painted at maaco and they just painted over rust so the paint started chipping off within two months.
