I am going to paint the wood trim in my house. Right now it has a pretty thick stain that is sort of milky, like a wash. Of course that is also coated with a layer of clear lacquer, or whatever they finished wood with in 1950. Fortunately I don't think...

Hand sanding is fine.

There are tannins in the timber though, so I would still seal with the Golden it makes it easy to handle, and you can hang... .
I used to paint murals on MDF and it is nice to work on, even, smooth, flat etc to paint on archivally.
And corners.

I'm watching Nate, and Mr Goodwill Hunting bought a wood dinning room table and chairs and painted it with outdoor paint, like you would use on wood shutters.

Just buy a high quality exterior paint and you should get at least 5 years out.
You put paint on the house so why not the furniture? If it works, it works very well.
Be drilled for an umbrella.

Seems silly to ask but is it normal, with 2 to 3 coats of paint, for wood grain to show?
I am really having my doubts that my painters has painted 2 coats of paint on my interior and exterior of house...
