Basically, the computer thinks it's a CD drive rather.
When I connect my Treo pro to my PC it makes sound that it connected, on Palm it says of the box the Treo Pro is in a Virtual CD Mode.

I have heard that as long as you're happy with getting mono rather than... .
The problem is that Apple wire these sections of the jack up to different inputs than other manufacturers, so that different sections of the jack carry different signals than normal .

The Palm Treo Pro to sync with a Windows 7 PC running Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 and Microsoft the phone worked fine, problem is not that the palm pro does not support virtual software.
