How do I pancake batter remain in the shape of a pancake? I'm trying to make instant pancakes but when I pour the batter in the skillet it sorta covers the whole skillet.

Pancake rings! You need to pour a bit less into the pan and/or you should add some flour to it so pour a little bit of the mix.
