So I am going to be moving my horse from NC to AZ and have him living in my back yard. Obviously I will now have total control over my horses diet, and in the past I have had decent control at the barns he has been at, but grass has always been included...

Need some advice here guys this spring I'm renting a half section and it has been in alfalfa for the last 10 years last year it was sprayed a few times with round up and 24D. What would grow best on this land?

I Have been feeding high quality alfalfa hay to my horse since I have owned him and not untill recently have I found out that it may be bad for him. Does anyone have any opinions on this and what affects it may have on him? Thank you .

Really, I know alfalfa gets a bad wrap, but it's awesome hay, high in protein and calcium and easy a better calcium to phosphorous ratio than....
In Arizona, it's what we feed.
I have been feeding high quality alfalfa hay for the past 18 years.

After cutting the hay in late summer we let the alfalfa get about 8 inches of growth then attempt....
Have never noticed a stand problem.
We have no-tilled winter rye with a jd750 drill into alfalfa ground a few times over the past few years.

Well I have a 2 ur old that I'm feeding about 10lbs of grain and about 12lbs hay a day..half in the morning and other half in the evening ..the pasture hes in has little to no grass and he does have plenty of water.. Question is do u think I'm feeding...

We mix a bag of Nutrena Triumph with a bag of Standlee Alfalfa Pellets.
Divided up into 2 feedings.
Using baled alfalfa as that always tends to be cheaper than pellets, but that might not be the case.
