I have an emergency fund of 11K.
I owe two portion of student loans
8K and 5.5K both at 6.8%.
I'm thinking about paying off either the 5.5K one or the 8K one. Should I keep my emergency fund the way it is or pay off one of the loans?

As the title says, did you pay (or are you going to pay) for dental school with 100% loans? 95%? etc? This includes living expenses, tuition, fees, etc. Pretty much EVERYTHING related to dental school.
Answer Snippets (Read the full thread at studentdoctor):
However, I did not take the full financial aid package offered to me - I only take only started dental school w/ ~9k in the bank.... .
However, I did not take in loan money.
I've paid all my tuition and related fees in loan money.
Down 100%.

In interest, and then pay off the loan later without actually losing anything!
That may be confusing! Sorry today!
Best CD Rates I would not pay off a 3.13% loan until IRAs were fully funded.

It is nuts to be investing in bonds @ 2% when it is costing you 9% to keep the loan around and borrow $5....
Max the 401K for the tax savings, then take out a 401K loan to pay will pay the most.
At prime - 1% or fixed at 4-5%.

Just don't fail to give that a high priority% guaranteed expense... .
At least you have the income to pay off the loan in 9-10yrs.
I'd suggest maxing out your 401K, then take out 401K loans to pay down your debt.
Is 7.8% tax-free.

Dont change your : if you only paid interest on that $22k loan this year, at 5.215% you would pay $22,000 x 0.05215, pay as much ....
Savings for emergencies, pay as much as you are comfortable towards the student loan.

Only once that is done should you let the PDL Companies know you... .
Get your pay shifted accross to the new account.
It'll stop you being tempted to get any more loans out while you pay your mum separate bank.
Being there for a while.
