Can someone explain why Credit Union Dividends are so low compared to interest rates of the banks. Looking at my own CU, the results from financial report look good with a healthy surplus yet they plan not to pay any dividend for 2012.

I am a Dividend Hog. I have spent quite a bit of time researching who has the best (largest) dividends and is not about to fail. PWI used to have the best. But then the Canadian government started talking about taxing them differently. I have KMP now....

I'd only be buying dividend stocks who's serious dividends don't yet exist it shouldnt pay a dividend until the total cost of the oil spill clean-up is estimated.

They might start paying a dividend on their stock too holdings.
And hold for a couple of years or wait for Apple .

As I understand it, stocks that pay dividends pay them to whoever owns the stock on the ‘record date’. What’s to prevent me from buying lots of shares of a company that pays a large dividend just before the record date and selling it just after that date...
