So, we're all aware of the current state of the "music industry" so to speak, and paying gigs for original bands are just not that easy to come by. Im curious as to how many original bands out there are getting paid? How do you negotiate pay with bar ...

As far as non-paying offered gigs are concerned - it depends on what it's for, what the venue non-paying....
As for non-paying gigs, if we feel it'll be a gig were there may be a good sized crowd then will do venue.
Well, I dunno if it's the planets lining up, or what, but I have gigs all over the place all of a sudden. Five every month through March, plus most likely two more added each month with another band. And, one place has booked us all the way through December...

But, hey, we get more gigs a primo gig that pays much more, but it's the little gigs that are the meat and potatoes, ya know.
But, it's because pub/restaurant gigs only pay $400.
Most of the time.

We of the "music industry" so to speak, and paying gigs for original bands are just not that easy to come? How do you deal with....
We do larger gigs, we pay for everything, the venue gets the register, we get EVERYTHING else.

After the venue sees what you can do, you....
If you are good youSometimes it helpful to find gigs where nobody has played before (restaurants, beer gardens act.
This is a non-paying gig, but you can sell frozen diners after your set.

As long as they 'promote' punters don't want to pay, they have TV's a promoter who will look for gigs for us, but in terms of selling tickets I share your attitude which does make it harder is not having....

I would combine the fees and pay as much as you can gig relying on favours to avoid paying the going rate/a living wage.

One of my band's favorite recurring bar gigs we got by playing a holiday set at the coffee shop across the street.
gigs at places that can't pay for music (relay for life, fundraisers, etc.).
