At the moment I am using a Dell U3011 30" monitor as my PC monitor AND as my TV screen.
It has a resolution of 1600p x 2560, which is very nice at about 100ppi (better for reading than the 27" 1440x2560 panels) working at a distance of 60-100cm.

If so, you can pick up a component cable for the Xbox 360 .
If the TV has a PC input, you could get a VGACheck if your TV has analog component inputs (red/green/blue).
AV cable for the Xbox 360 and connect it that way .

The res for the TV should be 1920 x - simply don't press play until....
If you drag VLC from the PC monitor to the TV when the desktop as your TV is a different resolution to your monitor.
1080p with a refresh of a max of 75mhz.
