We figured out how to harvest and juice the Prickly Pear - We use grabber tongs to pick them , chop them up a bit in a big pot then use a "new" mop squeezer & bucket to squeeze and collecet a few gallons. Strain the juice...

How much of a pain would it be to juice and turn them into cider? They are super hard pears also. Just the type of pear it is.

Always call your doctor just to double check before giving in to juice! GL :) my pedi said pear them something so sweet like pear juice early I feel like it is setting you up for sweet issues later pear juice....

I want to try pears with my LO. Do you find that they come out better steamed or pureed? Then, can you freeze them or do they get brown like bananas?

Works with apples and bananas.
I squirt just a touch of lemon juice over them to help prevent browning.

And it looks divine! The mold you used is quite lovely. I can't wait for an occasion to make it. Have you ever swapped lime juice for lemon juice in this recipe? Looks like your garnish has slices of lime in addition to sliced pears.

Sugar at 1.5 lbs and added 11.75 oz blue agave nectar .

I just got 15 pounds total of 3 different types of pears. Since I have a 3 gallon better bottle open I was thinking of doing a pear cider when these get ripe. Here's the recipe.
15 pounds ripe pears chopped
3 lbs clover honey
1 lbs local wildflower honey...
