I've been wanting to pick up a decent dist pedal for a while for some metal riffs, with alot of distortion and not too expensive, in other words a lot of bang for the buck. I've been eyeing the Boss DS-1 a bit, would this be a good choice or do you have...

All the new material my guitar player is writing is in drop C tuning, stoner/doom style riffs. I'm reluctant to tune my bass down because of the lower string tension, and also because we're still playing some of our older songs which are in standard tuning...

Get some appropriate it's gonna sound like you're using....
If you are playing everything in C then I would hesitate to rely on a pedal.
However, this is only for a couple of songs.
I have used my octave pedal for drop D stuff with success.

I have a single coil strat and play through a blues jr. I love this combo. Love the sound but I need a pedal to give me some distortion (like a high gain mesa).
I play mainly classic rock, rock, blues, and jazz but every so often I have to play a few ...

I am looking to not waste money trying different pedals. What would be considered the masics needed to cover most Metal / Hard rock? Metalica, Def Leppard, Priest, Kiss etc... Right now I have a Boss MT2 and am not very happy with how it sounds. Playing...

It's the tightest (no fizz or clipping) distortion pedal I've ....
Killer pedal with loads of EQ options and a built in noise gate.
Electro/Ozzy.
Much much less expensive than any other pedal tuner.
Gfs stomp tuner.
$30 I think.

I was planning on getting a new amplifier, but circumstances aren't allowing for it. Instead, I've decided to try and find a good distortion pedal to place between my guitar and a Peavey VTX Classic. I play mostly metal/hard rock, and my budget is approximately...

The only other pedal.
Even at very high gain levels Metal zone is good and MI Audio Crunch Box are good options, as well as the Blackstar Pedals.
Chugging in riffs like painkiller or paranoids intro.

Hey UG,
Here's the thing.
I sometimes need to go from heavy heavy distortion to crunch in a split second, and can't even use my hands to do it (because of the way the riffs are, i have to change from standard picking to hybrid/tapping but that's not important...

It would be the same as turning the volume knob ... .
You could always use a volume or EQ pedal to cut your guitar's signal? But what most people tend-Harmonix makes a pedal called the Signal Pad that's basically a reverse boost pedal.

Anyone play pedal steel? I've been trying to learn pedal steel - I find it to be a very difficult instrument. I progressed from working on slide using a traditional 6 string - to a lap steel. Once I was getting around on the lap steel - I thought I was...

When I first got it, I couldn't deal with the knee levers, so runs going using the pedals....
Playing pedal steel is a lot of training muscle memoryI just hack around on my pedal steel.

j'aime ces pédales Marshall, c'est du costaud, elles sont belles et font bien le boulot et à un prix plus que raisonnable.

'm new to single coils, as I just bought my first telecaster ever. It's got a crystal clear tone that sounds great. I just can't really get enough power out of it with my Marshall 1978 JMP 2203 (very close to a JCM 800 2203).
So I figured I'd either replace...

The Timmy pedal is, imo, ....
If you just want a pedal though amp at a low master volume, you can always keep your gain low and use a good booster pedal like a Timmy.
I'd suggest a mini humbucker for the bridge wouldn't be a bad idea .
