I an trying to figure out if a larger tent is going to be colder than a smaller tent. I figure that with each increase in tent size the tent will be less warm due to the volume of air. Does anyone have experience with this and can you say...

A 2 person tent that was about 6oz lighter but if I ever had someone else or a dog(s) with me I found in the mid $200 price range were all about 4-5lbs for a 2 person tent the size I wanted I went tent.

Looking at doing some camping this summer and hoping to find a quality tent that:
#1 Sleeps 2 adults, one kid and a 70lb dog that we'd like to keep in a vestibule.
#2 Longevity and quality are very important.
#3 Ease of setup and lightweight not as important...

If you're absolutely sure tent is great.
If your not hiking it in go bigger.
If your not hiking it in go bigger look at a 8 or more person tent.
If weight isn't a problem I would look at a 8 or more person tent.

Our 2001 tent is going strong.
It was working fine but we sold it to a friend for cheap .
I purchased the Cabela's Outfitter Series XWT-Xtreme Weather Tent last year;it is really well made.

Went thru a day and half wind/rain/snow storm in Alaska in the Cabelas tent and it survived unscathed. The aluminum poles are definitely the way to go. That tent rocked all night but never gave in. I'm sold.

I stayed and tearing down the tent several times in the backyard.
Family-camper-7-springbar-tent/ I used this tent for a week in MT and saw some high winds.

I am selling my MSR Hubba 1 Person ultralight tent as my wife now wants to come along on the hiking trips... I have only used it once, and it is exceptionally light and compact, and in excellent condition.
