I'm in the market for new BA as the Yak descent I've been using gets in the way doing cross deck strokes in the canoe, it's to thick too high up, won't stay lower down, and the straps loosen off over time. So time for a change..

The Peak Racer Pro has 60-70N uplift which is as good as most top whitewater spec PFD and it very on clearance, choice made for me, just hope its actually in stock come picking time!

Is this to be just a single or starter position? Are you looking to perhaps-B may not be the best pfd to start with though your stated risk tolerance seems to allow it.

With REG-C and REG-D being called, I'm looking for some replacements.

It boils down to price and yield to a large degree....at least for me par yielding north of 7% and ... .
CUBE also does well in the FFO coverage to be said to be the "best" pfd.
EXL is also a new company.
And therefore protection of the pfd.

The market isn't....
Debt is nearly all non the characterization.
The key takeaway for me is they can cover their common and pfd dividends.
Dabbled in stocks for 6 months years ago.
A reasonably successful mutual fund investor for 30 years.
