No school today so my 9 yr old wanted to duck hunt and pheasant hunt.
Didn't hunt the prime time but went late hatch.
Went pheasant hunting on Oct 18 in the Rochester area.

I have never pheasant hunted, I just watched Michigan Out of Doors, and I am curious how you can tell a rooster pheasant from a hen in the field when they take off. Also, can you tell a male from a female when a woodcock or grouse take off? I hunt them...

In 24 years of pheasant hunting I have only seen one hen shot and that was a good.
This helps everyone.
With the vast majority of my Pheasant hunting being done in the 70's".
Will be significantly longer on a rooster.

It is very similar in texture and color but it tastes much shells for pheasant and chukar but check with the preserve before you go, some of them have their own with the breast pheasant and ....

Saw 6 hens and 3 roosters today. All the hens held tight. Had 2 of the 3 roosters flush wild at the edge of my shooting range and the other held tight in some heavy cover for a nice point. Bagged that one on my only shot of the 2 hour hunt.

I would really like to do some pheasant hunting this coming fall, but don't have a clue as to where to go. I see there are seasons in both the Thompson and the Okanagan. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I used to hunt them hard years ago down in the Oliver Osoyoos area up permission to hunt....
The areas that hold any real number of birds, but that was over 20 years ago now .
