I have a computer connected to the internet. I need to find out what the phone number is on that line but can not connect a phone. Is there some way using the internet and the computer connected to that line.

In that case, no, there is generally no way of finding the phone number via the Internet, but if you have a British Telecom line and you can get your modem or phone to dial a number, just dial 17070.

It's then £17.74 a month for line rental and 8MB ADSL my adsl broadband provider as ....
For example TalkTalk will put in a new line for £59.99 which will save you some money.
To put a phone line in, BT aren't the only option.

Is there any good c++ source codes or api for handling phone lines like understanding tone signals. For example i like to find out if the person enters 3 (it's likely that this is done using it's tone sound).
Do i need a special modem for this purpose...

DTMF is the term you are looking for: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual-tone%5Fmulti-frequency
Whether you can process incoming DTMF tones with a particular modem depends on whether the modem supports it .

have you put the microfilter to the line, it's the little dongle....

I remember there were some commands that looked like this: ATH0++ which was how you could make the modem do different things .
You will have to learn how to control the modem .
Dial-up Networking perhaps.

Is there a way to use Google Voice on regular phone? perhaps with an additional SIP device? or something? I heard I could do it through Gizmo5, but they have limit of 3 minutes now which is stupid and they charge $10 for 500 minutes which is way too much...
