I'm a bit shocked tbh, but fortunately i'm out of my annual contract, so will look around for better deals.

Stay away rentals.
Tried them and they where terrible! It is worth a few extra bucks specifically with Alizes Car Rental (not recommendations for a different rental agency).
Stay away from Tropical car rental.

Cellular rental companies exist, but the question is are you willing to pay the going rate? When you add up the equipment rental fees and airtimes, it looks to me like you're going to be paying $85-100 for the initial week of rental....

On my last visit to Mexico ( Quintana Roo ), I was able to rent a cell phone for the week. It was very cheap and convenient. Are there any places in Bucerias or near PV that rent cell phones? Thanks.

Just a thought...you can purchase a Telcel cell phone for about $30.00 and use pay as you go...and use it the next time! We have purchased a Telcel phone for $40 and it came with a $30 phone ....

And certainly not at the airport.
