Transitions wise there is only a fade effect.
You can also enable Shuffle.
Simply drag the folder to WMP to make a Now Playing list then press Play and set it to Full Screen .
Windows Media Player, besides playing videos and music, also play pictures .

Why does Slideshow only works on a main display?
why can't i move Photo Viewer to the secondary monitor then start slideshow there? if i do that in Win7 RC the secondary display will turn all black and the main one will start the slideshow.

To shift which monitor it displays on hold Window Key+Shift for me, but the inactive screen is still blackened, do you think the photo viewer doesn't fully, as in whatever size is is during a slideshow....

Cheaper would be Windows Moviemaker & DVDFlick? DVD slideshow GUI and did you allow the installer to download and install checked programs Avisynth get my checkmark.

In XP, the built-in SlideShow (Photos) screensaver would randomly rotate among images not just in the directory specified in the settings, but also in any sub-directories (and on down) ...

It does not give you options for fancy transitions or animation, but will let you save a particular slideshow as a screen saver.
Viewer and slideshow generator than the apps included with Windows.

I know the question has been asked before in a more general way Best image viewers for windows and i agree with the answers. But Irfanview and others have something important lacking: pre-fetching of the next slideshow image in memory. Did I miss this...
