Basically it sounds like you'll need either an easel that has X & Y movements Or if the piece is to large for that, equally large scale X & Y movements for the camera .

I photograph all my paintings and drawings to reproduce identical light sources, one on each side of the camera, directed at the artwork at 45 degree angles.

I normally get a glare when I try to photograph at high noon.
Too many shadows otherwise.
