I just found a recipe for quick pickles that calls for pickling salt. You'll be surprised to know that this variety of salt is not an easy ingredient to find in NYC
However I know I can sub kosher salt for it errrr but than we get into that volume/weight...

I don't have any pickling salt in the house, but I found this:
1 cup plus 2 Tablespoons....
If you know of a hardware store that has a good stash of canning supplies, you might find it .
No pickling salt here — hard to find in SF too.

1/2 cup white vinegar
4 tsp pickling salt
2 garlic cloves
large dill head
2 dried red Cider Vinegar
3 qts water
1 cup Pickling (non-iodized) salt
Make sure your jars are clean we can pickle that!

Iam trying to put up jalapenos untill my tomatoes are done to make hot sauce. I bought a five gallon bucket with lid. Can some one tell me what to use to store them? Just vinegar or with water? and do I use salt?

Is there any difference between ice cream rock salt and just regular rock salt? I used canning and pickling salt on my coon shrimp and they were still soft after a half cup with about 100 coon shrimp any thoughts on what salts the best for coon shrimp...

For one thing, ....
Works well, leaves no salt% it wont freeze and 28 wont salt out either we do the same with our sprayer put 28 in it and run in the pump is for.
Freeze in the top of the pump and run it up and down a couple times by hand .
