I just found a recipe for quick pickles that calls for pickling salt. You'll be surprised to know that this variety of salt is not an easy ingredient to find in NYC However I know I can sub kosher salt for it errrr but than we get into that volume/weight...

I don't have any pickling salt in the house, but I found this: 1 cup plus 2 Tablespoons....
If you know of a hardware store that has a good stash of canning supplies, you might find it .
No pickling salt here — hard to find in SF too.

Works well, leaves no salt% it wont freeze and 28 wont salt out either we do the same with our sprayer put 28 in it and run in the pump is for.
Freeze in the top of the pump and run it up and down a couple times by hand .
