Pistols for hunting pigs? I never wanted to find out if my 9mm with SD ammo would stop a hog, but on my lease I might just happen across them. I just picked up a 1911 and am wondering if it in fact might be a good hog gun, and what ammo you guys might...

Or a shotgun, they usually don't go very far.
They will definitely do the job hunting wild pigs.
A .22 is a 30.30 or 30.06.

I shoot feral hogs with an AK-47. Very reliable, plenty of stopping power, 30 round mag, and reasonably accurate.

If you just want to buy something new for pig hunting then by all means get a nice short barreled it will stop a pig.
