Here is the Ultimate GT-8 patch collection, stuff i have soaked up off the web for a few years and want to share with all.
There are about 4000 patches made up of either single patch files or bulk patch files.
GT-8FxFloorBoard patch editor will load them...

If you're happy with the Boss stuff and don't need to incorporate your own pedals up front that you're all set .
NO I think one of the big draws for the g-system is being able to loop in 4 pre-gain f/x pedals .
