Ranked teams have a viewable history of previous matches. You can actually go back and view the post-game stats. This is GREAT! I think this should be added to normal games/solo que as well...

Head First Statistics is an excellent book to learn statistics ....
More probability than statistics, but Bayesian Probabilty can be very useful (it underpins spam filters) and IMO more software should use it to infer a user's habits.
