What's wrong with having an index for the thread ID? Wouldn't a simple COUNT expression grouped by the thread ID field suffice?
With any caching at all, this would) FROM Posts GROUP BY threadID;....
Needs it, switch to solution (b).

UPDATE: Turns out that the main thread is given a SynchronizationContext object when the first form is opened on it.

I suppose, it should have methods to do HTTP post in asynchronous do this use non-blocking or asynchronous I/O.

I have a long-running post-commit hook that updates an index of subversion repository (from the project http://svnquery.tigris.org/ ) The postcommit hook already runs as a separate thread due to the RunDetached executable provided as part of svnquery....

Add a new parameter to specify the thread priority
Once that's implemented, you could then pass the new parameter in your hook script to svnindex.exe and have it run with the specified thread priority..

Hello, my favourite thread on Hijack used to be the Wanna post something but can't find a thread thread, but it now has a large amount of full-on p0rn gifs that means I (and a lot of others) can't open it at work.
