Killerkill you can download hirentrada....
The other ones are .avi files....can't be burned on DVD-R media without proper conversion.
Is the difference between the 2 beside the file size

Was looking in store tonight for some DVD discs to copy NTSC vhs tapes onto - I want to copy them to
bring home with me and give the tapes to the charity store.
The store had above discs - Sony brand, both 1.20hr, 4.7GB.
Both labels [Sony] state one ...

It doesn't like double-layer discs either.
I think dvd+r had an advantage in sales volume at
one point old,
that doesn't like DVD+R discs.
To deal with both
formats just fine.

How do I find out if my DVD drive supports DVD-R or DVD+R media (or both) ? (Short of actually buying both types)
I googled on this topic, and could not find a definitive answer. The DVD writer manufacturers' web sites are of no help either.

All DVD recorders/players I own support both DVD-R and DVD+R. Is there any reason to buy one format over the other and if so, which is the best to use?

DVD-R came out first and was the only approved format for a while.
Into gory detail as to why DVD+R is fantastic and DVD-R is pure crap.

I noticed the last few times I tried pack of Verbatim Taiwan... .
On my last trip to Fry's -- a week AZO DVD-R a few days ago from a local office supply store.
Those are still AZO dye.
The notable exception being DVD+R DL discs.
