Has anyone done this? I'm not a fan of how big my power antenna is when it extends, so I figured that I may be able to take out the whole power antenna assembly and get a fixed antenna from someone and then buy a shorty antenna for that.
I'm just curious...

Hey guys, well the power antenna in my 91 Trans Am died not too long ago. So I was wondering if it would be wise to just buy another power antenna or if there are other alternatives. I'm just not sure how well a 3 foot tall fixed mast antenna would look...

My recommendation would be to stick with the power antenna.
Is wrong with your antenna now, what are the symptoms? Power antenna typically fail by breaking the plastic be looking at $1000-$2000.

I am in the process of locating a source for replacement masts for the 1961-64 power antenna on my Olds cars.
Other GM cars used the same antenna but I don't participate on their forums
How many folks would be interested in a new top mast with new cord...

Turned my car off today and the antenna motor endlessly ran. I just unplugged it but the little gear inside is stripped I guess according to what I've read. Now I have my antenna stuck up, where is the best place to get new ones?

On a very cold morning a couple days ago, my power antenna started struggling to go up and down. After it warmed up I added a little WD40 which may have been a mistake, I'm not sure. Anyway, now it raises about half way fine then shuts down the motor....

At somepoint the original power antenna was replaced in my car with a Ford unit. Today the mount backed out while on a drive. Since the motor was dead anyways I want to replace the whole unit. Anyone have any suggestions for a replacement?
