I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop, about 18 months old.
The problem is that the power cable keeps on falling out. It's just sitting on a desk, but minor movement can cause it to come out.
From a browse on the internet, it seems to be a reasonably common...

I guess that either the laptop power port or the end of the cable have worn and widened....
You should be able to find a service manual to talk to Dell about getting it fixed .
With a soldering iron, try replacing the internal power jack.

After a while (can be days, can be weeks), my network access speed slows down to ~2Mbps. Power cycling the modem (router and modem power off, then modem on, then router on) improves the performance to about 15Mbps. I'm curious what is the underlying reason...

The power cable is harder to tell was good but nothing exorbitant....
Silversonic Q-10 with Furutech spades for speaker cable, and a DH Labs Power Plus with Oyaide P-037 and lively, and there's more tonality and richness to the bass.

I've got two cables that connect a laptop to the electric wall socket.
The original that came with the laptop is bigger and the sticker with the specs says it outputs 19v - 4.74A.
The second smaller one only does 19v - 3.42A.
I'd prefer to use the smaller...

I take it any normal correctly fused power cable will be fine.
