A friend's taken the keyboard off his 17" Mac G4 Powerbook, screwed it back on and now nothing happens when presses the power button. I don't have 'eyes-on' but he says he didn't do anything else apart from unscrew it, look around then screw it back on...

I have a Powerbook G4 that someone gave me with a blank hard drive. I'd like to install OS X on it, but the only version listed on apple.com is Snow Leopard, which only supports Intel processors.
What version of OS X can I use with this G4, and any ideas...

In some areas it is much faster than 10.4, plus you get .
I run it on my 1.5GHz G4 PowerBook Mac OS X 10.5 on my iBook G4 and it runs fine.
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
Want to install Tiger 10.4 instead.

I have an Aluminum FW800 G4 Powerbook (specific specs are 1.25Ghz G4, 512Mb RAM, SuperDrive) that I recently replaced the original hard drive. I've gotten alot of use out of it, but at this point the battery holds a whopping 7 minutes of life with everything...

This is basically what i had before.
I'd consider one from OWC, that uses power from the PowerBook for the external.
That would give you a bootable solution.
Drive in an external SATA case, then run a firewire cable to the PowerBook.

The Title says it All . It does not come with a Hard Drive or a optical drive. The optical drive i don't need as i can use FireWire Target Disc Mode to install OS X Leopard. I do have a 20GB HD in my 12in PowerBook G4 that will work in the 15in PowerBook...

I known the 12in was in bad shape when i Got it but what PowerBook....
Sadley my 12in Powerbook G4 12in Powerbook G4 gave its life for the 15in.
Had the light up keyboard and the Radeon 9700 so i am still happy with it .

You will not regret to be sure with DDR2 there's high and low density ram is there? When I had my iMac G4 I mistakenly this? And just to be sure with DDR2 there....
Grab another gig.
PowerBook as you and mine runs very smoothly with 2GB of RAM.

I just scored a 17" Powerbook G4 running Leopard with the following specs off of eBay:
1.67 Ghz
100 GB HD
2 GB Ram
Superdrive
It also came with an AC Adapter and a nice carrying case.
Price: $272 with shipping (Probably too high, but I sold my Dell Laptop...

Yep, I found this post search for 500GB PowerMac G4 and realized that after I submitted my post..
On a Powerbook - that drive is a 3.5 inch model designed for desktops.
