I am considering a number of options to build a 2.1 system. My budget for the amp section is 1.0-1.5K. What is the best combination of Rotel 1550, 1552, 1580, 1582? I assume Rotel expects one to match 1550/1552 or 1580/1582, but should I consider combinations...

I use a RotelThe general consensus is that unless the RC-1580 Pre-Amp offers specific features you want and need Power....
If you require more power, go for the better power amplifier.

Mate of mine has a very nice sounding AVI pre/power and it's minty to the DNM PA1 power amp and much prefered the DNM for speed, detail, musicality etc (unless the speakers.
