What is the difference in work hours per week between prelim medicine and prelim surgery?
I heard
that prelim medicine is around 80 hours per week, anywhere from 60-100 hours per week...whereas
It totally depends on where you are training. At my program (I did prelim medicine), for 5 mths

with ONE IM attending (non PD, non Chair) letter.

Are produced by doing a lot of medicine hands on, which doesn't mean you necessarily have to kill yourself
? Not to mention, I'm a woman and want to have kids during a possibly non-difficult residency year.

To bother with TY...I'll apply just to prelim med. My dilemma is this: all my LORs are geared towards
, which should be a positive applying for IM prelims.
I'm not trying to go anywhere special
, I thought that medicine prelim years require a letter from an internist? I'm not 100% sure on this one

Candidate and i'm pondering if it's wise applying to both categorical and prelim tracks for the SAME
specialty at the SAME program(ie categorical surgery + prelim surgery, or categorical IM + prelim IM
not look committed to the categorical medicine program since maybe you're using the prelim spot

That say do not rank prelim and take any categorical before prelim etc ( like this one ) but have
categorical then prelims (i.e. MGH, UTSW, UCLA (1. cat, 2. cat., 3. cat) then 4.MGH prelim, 5. UTSW prelim...

Who is good clinically. I was thinking they might prefer medicine-type letters.
Are you guys sending the exact same LoRs to prelim and TY programs as to Derm programs? I'm
letters.
I ended up using a couple of medicine letters as I wanted to stay close to home for my prelim

So, I matched into a great rads program but matched into a prelim medicine program I really
way I can get out of my prelim program and scramble into a surgical prelim. The prelim med program
I thought once you matched, it was a binding contract. Is it more lenient for prelim year programs

I've only had 3/10 interviews for the prelim internal medicine programs I've applied to. And I know
that one of the 3 places is rather competitive. Was just curious about how many prelim programs you
medicine spots ) and still waiting from the rest....Still early yet. Prelims can sometimes be very late
