And pronunciation! I don't think there IS a "proper" pronunciation, since it varies geographically, unless you assume that modern British English is automatically the same pronunciation....
Nations separated by a common language.
In some German words ending in "en" it seems as though some people do not pronounce the "en". Is there a grammatical rule for this or is it something that is becoming/has become in vogue? Grüße, Tom

This is fairly clear pronunciation from a normal speaker.
Even in sloppy dialectal pronunciation, the resulting consonant is considerably longer than of German syllabic n.

"Moss" has an entirely different ("mawss") pronunciation for me.
Maybe it was less hassle that way, but it does I'd say Mahss-COW .
