You can pull the engine completely out, with the bell housing attached to the engine well to pull it out on a creeper or dolly.

There is a special clutch puller but there is a way to use sockets and a bolt instead of a puller.
Can remove the primary clutch without the tool but you could damage the shaft too...

Probably a clutch cable adjustment is needed, but it could be something else, especially if it's an old clutch.

As easygoin said this is normal because of the cold oil.Make sure your clutch lever is....
Its because its a wet clutch & the oil is cold & has a higher viscosity ( is thicker when its cold)
this is normal for bikes with a wet clutch.
