Its amazing how quickly you forget the puppy stage (our beautiful old lab died last year at 14).

If you don't want him to bite his tail then redirect him onto a toy, make a loud noise (yelp) to show he.
The puppy doesn't realise you don't want.
Nothing will stop unless you tell the pup to.
