I have a yellow and purple...I got them in my larger tank for ~2 years.
Very doubtful.
To have success keeping the two together.

My yellow is really friendly to me, my clownfish pair, and the six line wrasse.
I have a yellow in my 55 though so I cannot address the purple tang.

I love the Yellow...but the Purple of the Yellow in the tank...Since the L/R is so purple already the yellow really stands out....
Way better looking than the yellow.
I would go with purple.
