My company (now 100 people in 4 countries) has used many vacation approval schemes in the past, ranging from trust & self-managing (in the very early days) to ad-hoc e-mails, signed paper, outlook add-ins with shared folders and now a sharepoint list...

I imagine that a simple Sharepoint approval workflow could handle this pretty easily.
There could knock up a quick way of doing that assuming you used time categories.

Many larger organizations have IT departments that lock down desktops to a standard configuration, or SOE. End users generally don't have rights to install their own software, and even if they did, organizations tend to only allow "approved" software ...

By the tone of your comment it sounds like you think the approval process has something to do with cost? From our point of view per-unit cost of an app isn't something we'd consider at all in the approval.

Hi, I have several tasks that I needed to approve. However, all items of the ribbon is greyed out. I can not click on Accept. It was working fine earlier, just got this problem today. Any idea of a solution to this?

Essentially, this issue manifests when a task in the Approval View different tasks in the Approval....
Then I went back to Approval Center and now, it appears that this is a new bug.
Updated one of my own task, saved it and submitted it .

What's the best way to store changes to database records that require approval before being visible?
I need to store user entered changes to a particular table, but not show those changes until they have been viewed and approved by an administrative user. While those changes are still in a pending state, I would still display the old version of the data...
