As for cranking it for a few turns with ignition switches off,i used to start up this way with both... .
Off the top of my head it retards it for a few seconds during start up .
Does the famed "soft-start module" retard the ignition? If not what does it do .

On the R/t specific page I submitted a new thread titled "Engine Broke" back in October 2011. Well yesterday I lost a second motor to the same failure according to the dealer. Timing chain broke. Reference post here:

The R/T the cylinder head,....
The R/T engine has a better head, cam, and valve a SOHC cam already in it.
Can swap them but you will notice a performance lost.

Visited the service dept today and saw all the parts they are going to use on another new engine. Small block 5.7 hemi crated, new heads crated and guess what the same type timing chain and all necessary gaskets to go with it. I think I am going to start...

Hopefully, this time the engine will last design issues, but they do obviously have quality control issues.
Limited to using original equipment parts from Chrysler.
