Is there any WM5 based ROMs out there? I have apps that wont run in 6, only work in 5. i could probably use the pdocwrite to dump the WM6 ROM that is in this one, but i was wondering if there was any WM5 based ROMs to cook it too, or any way to cook up...

Which but no one seem to be bothered to share that piece of input to actually embed a flashdisk in the ROM and understand that XIP of ROM....
To bother about extracted XIP but go with a default boot.rgu or other to cook the new ROM.
