Is it realistic to use rail travel to get to work? [i.e. trains] Is it conceivable, given the current economic climate, to expect somebody to travel to their place of work using the train?

It can be really expensive though so you might want to check out what it's going to cost you per week and how long the journey will actually take to see whether it's worth going for the interview .
I know a few people who get the train to work .

I have £75 in rail travel vouchers issued by East Coast last year as a result of a delayed journey to Edinburgh. They expire on 13 September 2012.
I was going to use them for my trip to Edinburgh this year - but inevitably the on-line price of the tickets...

Austria has an "Einfach Raus Ticket" that will allow up to 6 people travel together anywhere.
