But I think I managed to get realtek high defination audio codecs working in windows 7 though.

Hi, I have a Gigabyte motherboard with an onboard Realtek HD sound card. The card is working perfectly everywhere, except for a single video format, where the voice is distorted, sounds as if it's been passed through a metal tube.

Can you try getting a codec pack for another audio player and then try? For eg: get a codec pack for WMP, probably VLC.
Try a new version of the Realtek HD Audio driver; this could solve your probs.

I have some sort of audigy card, SB0090, that came with a front-panel thing with all kinds of gold-plated plugins and things, including firewire. The audigy itself has gold plated hardware all over it. Very blingy.

I Finally solved it by removing the PC Speaker!! SameThe general rule of thumb is, NEVER use onboard audio.
With HD-Audio that hissed with system activity.

I haven't updated my realtek drivers at all.
I only use the Realtek on my Laptop which I only use the optical out to my home theatre to listen to Spotify.

I finally managed to locate RealTek HD Audio Manager on Windows 7 by searching for the file "RAVCpl64.exe"
However, when I click to open it, nothing happens. I tried to run it in compatibility mode with Windows Vista but nothing happens once again.

Had to uninstall and load'em again to get sound.
Laptop recognized being HD, but never got any sound.
Installer say it installed but it was only HD Audio Device in the Device Manager and no icon that was.

Okay, so I've just set up my DAW. Wanted to get it all working before i invested in an audio interface and a midi keyboard for recording.
I've tested out some demo songs in Reason and they sound crisp and detailed with my M50s. I can't imagine the quality...

I just purchased the "expansion" this morning... I can barely hear the audio anymore, even the base game is muted (i.e. menu music, ui effects)... The cutscene audio in the expansion is barely audible, to the point that if I didn't have the subtitles ...
