On my 03 SB they run the tapered style rear wheel bearings, would it be a good idea to switch it over to a high quality roller bearing like they use on the newer bikes, or isn't it worth the machining that would have to be done to the hub in order to ...

I replaced the front hubs in my car a couple months ago, and i feel like the rear wheel bearings (at least on one side) are starting to go too cause it seems a bit noisy, even for my car.

You'll need to have the rear IRS hub and bearing pressed out the old ones out and the news ones....
If the position of the hub is in a different spot thanThe job is not too difficult .
Being needed after changing rear bearings.

I'd bearings and the gearbox output shaft, because when you go over a bump, the suspension compresses and the only things to 'give' are the bearings....
If there is no play, roughness, noise or rock from the bearings then they should be fine.

I can't tell if its 1 bearing, both bearings or my brakes scraping or dragging. It makes a consistent scraping noise while im driving. I can jack the rear up and spin the tires and i can hear it, when i remove the brake drums it goes away....I have replaced...

The old, I had my cover off a few weeks ago when I changed the rear gear oil (had no clue how old/if ever had been changed).
Of the repair bearings just in case when I replaced my rear end with one from the boneyard.

Removing rear bearings from an aluminum carrier I used to drive myself crazy with the "knock the bearings out with a and punch" method. On a 250r for example, there's not a lot of play in that center collar so there's not much of a lip to get the punch...

Also, I usually have the bearings in the freezer and once I get the old ones out, remove the bearings from the freezer and "drop" them in while the carrier is expanded the bearings out of an auto trans....

I'm currently overhauling the brakes on my 63 GT Six. Naturally, I intend to do the rear wheel bearings as the brakes are off the car. I can't find a reference (other than Studebaker's) for these bearings. Do you know of any cross-over reference...
