However, while you can probably safely ignore iTunes, I think Safari updates are also is in the default spot, type: sudo mv /Applications....
When one is presented to you that you don't want to update, for whatever reason, you can select you again.

Shouldn't iTunes benefit quite a bit from transitioning to 64-bit? Faster media encoding, better data management - it is a media management app after all.

My iPhone is synced with my home PC which is all working fine. What I want to do is plug my iPhone into my work mac and have it charge but not do any syncing.

Dear ALL,
for some reason I can't install iTunes on my system (Windows 7, 32bit), progress bar goes nearly to the end and then i've got this error. Anybody had similar problem? I wonder if there is any good alternative for iTunes (freeware or gpl)?

I'd stress that if you're not using iTunes for iPod.
I say "alternatives" because using iTunes on windows is like shooting oneself in the foot with a rusty, and they don't like not being in control, so YMMV).

I have my iPhone and iTunes set up on a specific computer but want to transfer this to another computer.
Do I just install iTunes on the new computer and just sync my iPhone etc.. or is there anything special I have to do ?

I've been considering using Git to manage my iTunes library and allow me to sync it between computers.

Each time I upgrade iTunes a small selection of songs go missing. i.e. they are not found by iTunes and the file itself is no longer in the folder on the hard-disk.
There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to this, the files are mp3s and m4vs, both...

Losing iTunes database isn't so critical because you can always rebuild, but personal files is another is definitively wrong in iTunes 9.0....
But seriously, apart from not giving more details, iTunes losing files is a critical bug.
