If the video is in a standard format (mpg, mov with your files recorded with Vista, since that would make it a showstopper for people upgrading don't have 600 Gb of backup ....

When my Media Center was new the Recorded TV loaded in a flash, but now with about 750GB of recorded material it takes about 5-10 seconds to display. The slowdown has been gradual as more material has been added to the library.

I have been able to record two HD streams while watching a third and never) and pointed the TV Recording....
I have over a TB in recorded, likely not a drive issue.
A similar spec'ed but not quite as fast machine (Core 2 Duo 1.8) .

I have two W7 Ultimate MediaCenter PC's, both running the 64-bit RTM. Each have their own tuners and each share their recorded tv. Each has the other computer's shared tv included in their library so and I am able to watch what was recorded on either ...

After installing a new video card my MCE does not play recorded TV, Live TV or DVDs anymore. It will play for a few seconds, and then crash.

Win7 Media Center- When I skip around on a TV program that I've recorded, the sound gets "rough" - it gets a weird quality to it. If I hit stop then play again, problem solved. But it happens often and is quite annoying.

Another option is to use a different ui like Phoenix that doesn't care whether it is a recording....
You don't have toactually move the file if you don't want too .
Browse to the movie in BMT and uncheck the Recording checkbox.
Use BMT to do it.
