What are the big differences when recording and mixing a live concert performance as apposed to a studio performance.
I have always been amazed at the incrdible sound on some of the live albums that I own.

In the studio, the engineer/producer is king approaches it as a "Taped-Performance" as opposed to a studio recording.
Of pressing that record button for a live recording.

This is something I've always been curious about.
Let me clarify my question a bit before you answer:
Assuming you have access to an audio interface with enough inputs to record whatever it is you're recording...would you still have any use for a mixing...

Personally, I think computers make great mixing boxes, but they don't make good recording boxes.

That's what I do.
Large rates.
$5000-10k minimum for recording/mixing/mastering.
That small scale production isn't cheap.

Hi all,
When recording a video of yourself mixing, do you still record through a usual prgram like audacity then just put the recorded over the video? or is the recording on iphone good enough? How is it done properly?

I would record the sound via audacity and then just play it over the video, sound quality aint that bad on the iphone but still not good enough to listen to say a 10 min mix cool, any ideas of good.
