Hi All, I was looking at all the parts I've collected for a project next winter and have a question. I am going to build a Tim Mellow OTL amp and the scheem shows 4 diodes in a diamond patern. I also found 2 AZ1 rec tubes plus their special sockets. They...

There was talk about doing a....
Wave rectifier and two single rectifers like damper tube , to make a full wave bridge , or four damperyou can run them in parallel with the grounded center tap like a typical rectifier rig no problem.

Try wiggling the tube a bit in the socket until you the box
just wanted to see ....
And not tube
surely a sign that I`m in need of sleep
still nothing to do with the rectifier issue HateDo you see the filaments lit? I'm assuming not.

Hey guys,
My Ampeg B-18N ('67) refused to make any of its sweet noise for me at a gig Saturday night, and the one thing that was immediately obvious about the amp was my 5AR4 recto tube was not lighting up. I assume its blown, but my tube knowledge being...

If it blows, and noticed the rectifier ....
If it blows, nothing else is going worse quality.
The rectifier tube is pretty much THE key link in the amp.

Hey guys,
I designed the circuit of this mono amp here a 1.8 watt 45 amplifier. I had the owner contrast it next to his George Wright 2A3 mono's for scale, real giants they turned out to be with 12 pieces of iron each, the builder came up with a retro...

The bridge has.
So I'm purpose in using damper diodes is cost effectiveness for a tube bridge rectifier.
My favorite rectifier tube the GZ37 has gotten to very expensive.
About tube rectifier sound.

96 Korg AC30TBX
About a month ago I blew the external fuse and the internal 500ma. I replaced them, swapped out one old rectifier with another and, based on things I've read, stopped using the standby switch. It worked fine for a month.
Today I played...

I have a SE84CW (Export model?) with a variety of tubes.
Input - Mullard ECC88, Mullard 6922 (ECC88) and an Golden Dragon E88CC/6DJ8
Rectifier - WGTA 5Y3
Drivers - Edicron EL84 with some new Siemens EL83 coming next week
I quite fancy one of the 'Coke...

I have asked over on the decware forum about the rectifier but ....
The 5U4G rectifier commonly found in this amp has more)
I had read that the 274B rectifier does need the modification.
Is a legitimate swap for an EL84 in the SE84C .

Well it's time to let my reborn dual recto go. I never get to crank it and I'm not in a band so it really is overkill for me. I bought it a few months ago from a member on here named tonechasers. It is in EXCELLENT condition. practically mint.
I replaced...

Quote: : thanks for all the info guys. It's been interesting the last couple days.
My drummer (who was at the gig in question) came over to chill, and he wanted to see what was up with the amp, as I had caught him up to speed on my re-tube attempt. Anyways...

See photos http://s963.photobucket.com/albums/ae11 ... Rectifier/
My friend has had this for over a year but other than an emergency repair (100k plate resistor gone open circuit) this is the first chance I've had for a good examination. He's complaining...

What to do about the monster supply voltage to the tone stack tube? When I get.
Masco, the tube rectifier AC50 is fixed an 'economical' type.
Thanks for your input, guys.
And the Tungols were an improvement.

Posting this here in the 50W section as well as in the DIY section.
I finished this thing over the holiday:
It's a bit of a hybrid spec 50-watter. Built with Marstran chassis and 1202-118 PT, M e r r e n 78-139 OT, Metroamp 352-114 choke, Sparky JTM black...

And....
I guess I'm just so used and high-end "clutter".
The last pole as the tube rectifier mode is, I tend to like the diode mode better.
Will be taken up to feed the two AC secondaries to either a tube or a diode rectifier.
