So I've been doing that Direct Debit to pay my electricity (British Gas - but for electricity) and it's 250 quid in credit - following a meter reading yesterday - after about a year using this system.

That's all business days, as i have never noticed anything showing back on my credit card.
By 'account', I mean credit card and pop).
Any refund generally takes a couple of days to post to an account.

You'll be able to apply on a form P50 after you've got a P45 .
You cannot get a refund of unused tax credits - you can only get a refund of overpaid tax refund of whatever you pay in Jan/Feb.
