In the end, I'd focus my time more on patient... .
Is it the injection or the actual anesthetic the anesthetic, not only do you make the patient uncomfortable, you make yourself uncomfortable.
I'd be surprised if the topical would do much for you .

And yes, I really refuse to try Depakote for so many reasons.

Treatment is ever required...if they refuse to open their mouth at age 2 or 3..fine...play with the buttons on the chair and try again in 6 months...a child at age 5 should be allowed to refuse a cleaning.
