Take a look at this exhausting list of codec identifiers .
There is also the TrID utility that does this automatically .

This is a very complex problem.
The reliable way is employing a voice detector.
Filters in mp3 players usually rely on the fact that the voice source (the performer) in a stereo - the voice is not extracted.
