Wow! The rates for car rentals in Maui for January are higher than I have seen. Anyone have any ideas to cut the rate?

I got the best rate through Discount Hawaii Car Rental, but I also booked through AutoSlash in case the rates go down....
Rental is with Alamo.
The corporate rates I get with Avis.

AX also covers rental cars.
USAA and our own insurance also USAA covers us for rental cars.

I don't have much experience with traveling that part of the country but your best rates won't be till at least 3 months out from your dates.
I think if anything you may be too early to find a good rate.

Total with fee's was $190.41 including a $2 charge for FF miles .
I have to watch the rates, which usually come down, but almost - mid-size car 1/26 to 2/2/2008 $114 base rate for 7 days.
Paid this high of a rate at PBI.
