How to properly reset ecu hi guys, can somebody give me a step by step guide on how to properly reset the ecu of my 4efte? thanks in advance guys!

You reset the ecu if you have an error code, fix the problem and just reset it to clear the codes.

After engine mods, you want to reset your ECU to take advantage of the new mods.
Start the car and let it warm up
Turn the car off
Pull the ECU fuse under the hood -or- disconnect the battery
Let it sit for at least 5 minutes

Hell thats what I do to reset likely me not tightening my gas cap, so I reset the ECU.
If i reset it will it work?? just pull the damn ecu in a 5th or 6th gen...

I'm getting some pinging after installing the 85 octane tune, I've been running shell 89 octane gas since the truck was new, will resetting the ecu make a differences?

I fear that without doing so the next time you replug in th BEFORE you reset....
It don't hurt to try though from your truck first BEFORE you reset the ECU.
IF you just flash the ECU, it's basically fresh, nothing to reset IMO.

I have been searching this forum and others but I cant seem to find one single "right" way to reset the ecu. Some say just turn of the battery for a minute and then on again and then hold
the key in ignition mode without starting the engine for 45 seconds...

Resetting ECU Help My 2002 P5with automatic tranny 108k miles on the odometer just started to idle below 700 rpms not always but at times once car has been driven. At red light rpms even stumbled to 500rpm almost shut off but rpms went back up to 700....

Never reset the ecu for 15 seconds and it reset....
The way I reset the ECU is disconnect the battery completely, make sure the leads don't touch each front cat and bought a new one and cleared the code with the obd2 scanner.

Friend just bought a 98 EX, bone stock minus a radio. He can't pass inspection because the catalytic system always says not ready.
Found out power to the ECU is being lost every time the car is shut off. Replaced ECU to verify, same results.
Any ideas...

However when only the ECU is disconnected that trick probably won't work.

My hornet919's ECU had registed HISS keys to maximun. If I will like to re-register HISS key, need I to reset ECU memory? or ECU will be reset while go HISS program procedure? Thanks
