It could be tied to how much memory is allocated for video .
I know some Intel video sets have limited resolution capabilities.
Way to verify this unless it's in the release notes for the driver.

Once again, it was a D700 vsa K-x.
It looks sharp (although it is beginning to break up) while the Kx looks fuzzy a standard resolution chart.
